I can't even explain to you how long the idea for this session has been just sitting in my brain, waiting. And me, dreaming of the day I'd get to do it and see my vision out loud. I had worked with both James and Caitlyn on photos separately (Caitlyn for actor headshots and James for the same, as well as a creative portrait shoot which became another one of my absolute favourites ever).

The fair was in town for the summer and I got the itch to just do the shoot. I immediately thought of these two because 1. I knew how down they'd both be to play around despite the crowd and 2. they're both just so cool and I knew each of their personal styles would fit the exact vibe I was envisioning.

I was so right on both accounts.

I had so much fun this night. I took a ridiculous amount of photos because I just kept getting excited when every single shot was IT. It was the dream in my brain come to life and man, oh man, I was so pumped. I think we might have been there for about 2 hours!? I started editing as soon as I got home, there's no way I could wait, I was that excited. They remain some of my favourite photos I've ever taken.

Because it was a portfolio shoot, I really felt the freedom to lean into everything that makes me excited - direct flash, skewed and distorted angles, and real punchy colours and contrast. What. A. Dream.

I long for more sessions like this, ones where I can lean into my style fully.
